February 21 – 23, 2019 Perry, Georgia The Georgia National Rodeo  -Watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in riding, roping, racing, steer wrestling, and bull fighting at Georgia National Rodeo in Perry. We are excited to be named as a Top20 Southeast Tourism Society Event. So don’t miss all the exciting action happening this February in Perry! This exciting event is held every February at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, GA and is officially sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). It features specialty acts plus cowboys & cowgirls from across the country competing in seven categories., Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Team Roping, Bull Riding, Steer Wrestling, and Barrel Racing. Points earned at the Rodeo qualify riders for the National Finals held every December in Las Vegas. There are also plenty of vendors to shop from during the Rodeo. February 23rd, 2019 Acworth, Georgia Polar Plunge Do you have what it takes to make the plunge and be “freezing” for a reason”?? On February 23rd, 2019 brave Plungers will have the opportunity to jump into icy waters in the middle of winter to show their support for Special Olympics Georgia athletes! Acworth Beach will once again be the backdrop for a day of chilly fun including live music, food and prizes. Participants (teams and individuals) who collect pledges from friends and family totaling at least $50 secure their plunging spot! Polar Plunge is the largest fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics and many states across the nation participate in this annual event through the efforts of their Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) program. Part of the "Unleash the Beast" series, this premier rodeo event will take place on the evening of March 9 at 7:45 p.m. ET and the afternoon of March 10 at 1:45 p.m. ET. This will be the second straight season that the PBR will compete at the Infinite Energy Arena and the seventh time overall that the event is taking place in Duluth. It will be the 10th stop on the PBR tour. The 2018 champion was Claudio Montanha Jr. of Brazil. For Montanha, it was his first win on the "Unleash the Beast" series as he registered a score of 89.5 points on the bull Buck John. The win in Duluth, GA was also one of two victories for Montanha in 2018 on the "Unleash the Beast" series. He also won in Billings, MT on April 20. Science ATL Atlanta Science Festival Inc. is now extending the excitement of science learning year-round through a series of programming and partnership-building initiatives called Science ATL. The new Science ATL initiatives will increase public interest in and appreciation of science in Atlanta by creating and promoting easy access points to science, technology, engineering and math throughout the year. In 2018, Science ATL will launch an online public science events calendar, the Chief Science Officers leadership program for middle and high school students, a science activity passport, and a science communication fellowship. Atlanta’s St. Patrick’s Day parade – started by the city’s Hibernian Benevolent Society (a Catholic and Protestant fraternal organization) – dates back to 1858, making it one of the country’s oldest. Produced by Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade, Inc., the Parade features representatives from the various Irish groups that are an integral part of Atlanta’s Irish community.  Members of the Hibernian Benevolent Society, the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), Clan Na NGael, Fire Emerald Society of Metro Atlanta (FESMA), the Irish Information Center and the Metro Atlanta Police Emerald Society (MAPES) are all active members and participants. Among the goals of the group are the education of the public about the significant contributions made by the Irish to Atlanta, the South and the United States. Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade is a 501(c)(3) organization. Participation in the parade is not just an “Irish thing”. The parade attracts individuals and groups from around the city and the South including clowns, floats, bands, Bagpipe & Drum Corps, children, dancers, drill teams, and more.
